What is it like to do archival research in Nigeria and other African countries? What are the political implications of archival research work and how does our positionality as African researchers impact how we engage in research?

This is a conversation for undergraduate and graduate students engaged or interested in conducting research in Africa and the African diaspora.

This conversation is facilitated by Provostial Visiting Fellow-In-Residence Dr. Samaila Suleiman, Dr. Nanre Naziger, Faculty of Education and the African Studies Students Association (ASSA)

Dr. Samaila Suleiman

Samaila Suleiman聽is an Associate Professor of History in the Department of History, at Bayero University, Kano. He received his B.A. and M.A. in History from Bayero University, Kano, and graduated with a Ph.D. in Historical Studies from the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 2015. His research interests lie at the intersection of historiography, identity, and the politics of knowledge production in Africa. Samaila has delivered guest lectures and papers at Cambridge, Oxford, Rutgers, Technical University of Berlin, Wilton Park, Sussex UK, etc.
