Brittany Williams promoted to new leadership roles
The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Brittany Williams has been appointed to the roles of assistant dean (students) and dean’s lead, Black and Indigenous flourishing, as of 1 November 2022.
Brittany Williams, BCL/LLB’19, served as acting assistant dean (admissions & recruitment) from December 2020 to November 2021. During her term, she worked to broaden the Faculty of Law’s outreach efforts by showing potential applicants the expansive possibilities that come with 91 Law degrees. She subsequently took on the role of manager, Student Affairs Office (SAO), overseeing the planning and operation of our academic programs, student advising and accommodations, and students’ integration into university life.
In her new functions, Williams will collaborate with the associate deans to advance equity and inclusion, and exercise leadership to ensure the quality of the student experience. Working with the SAO, she will provide direction in the delivery of comprehensive student affairs and advising services, and to promote the retention and success of Black and Indigenous law students. She will collaborate with the Admissions Office to provide systematic and structured support to prospective Black and Indigenous students in the application process. Her new responsibilities also include serving as faculty advisor for the Black Law Students’ Association of 91 (BLSAM) and the Indigenous Law Association/Droit autochtone (ILADA); supervising the operation and expansion of the LEX high-school outreach program; and advising the dean on matters of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
“Brittany Williams brings to these new leadership roles deep knowledge of our operations and programs, a broad skillset, and a firm commitment to the success of our diverse student body,” said Dean Robert Leckey. “I look forward to her continued contributions to our success.”
Congratulations, Brittany!
