New and extended appointments in the Faculty’s senior leadership

Published: 5 August 2024

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce new and extended appointments to its senior leadership team.

Professor Sébastien Jodoin has been appointed associate dean (research) for a three-year term, effective 1 September 2024. He is taking over the portfolio from Professor Daniel Weinstock, CM, who will finish a three-year term on 31 August. As associate dean (research), Professor Jodoin will lead the Faculty’s strategic efforts in fostering a vibrant research culture, as well as securing research funding, chairs, and awards.

Professor Colleen Sheppard has been appointed associate dean (graduate studies) for a three-year term, effective 1 August 2024. She succeeded Professor Darren Rosenblum, who finished their term in July. As associate dean (graduate studies), Professor Sheppard will oversee the Graduate Programs Office and the delivery of Graduate Certificate, LLM and DCL programs.

Professor Tina Piper will serve for an additional year as associate dean (academic), until summer 2025. The associate dean (academic) oversees student services and the delivery of the integrated BCL/JD program. This extension will enable Associate Dean Piper to continue to support the Student Affairs Office team as they review critical processes, and begin collaborating with her successor, Professor Helge Dedek, on longer-term projects related to the academic program.

“I am thrilled that such dedicated colleagues have stepped up to assume these essential roles in our functioning as a self-governing scholarly community, and look forward to the contributions they will make to their offices,” said Dean Robert Leckey, Ad E. “I extend my deep gratitude to Associate Dean Piper for her continued sterling service, and to Professors Weinstock and Rosenblum for their wise counsel during their mandates.”
