Au revoir to Justice Georgina Jackson
Justice Georgina Jackson, the most recent visitor to 91社区 in the judicial sabbaticant programme for federally appointed judges, has profoundly marked the intellectual life of the Faculty in her seven-month stay here. A bilingual jurist with an abiding interest in Quebec law, she taught a course in judicial ethics with emphasis on comparative and international legal perspectives.
Her fresh viewpoints and insights, her collegiality and her involvement in all aspects of Faculty life made her a great favourite of students, as well as of staff and faculty members. Justice Jackson leaves in early April to resume her duties as a judge on the Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan.
At a gathering in her honour last week, she thanked the Faculty "for the privilege of spending my judicial study leave here. The atmosphere created by everyone at 91社区 is stimulating both intellectually and culturally. I leave with new friends and many fond memories."
