New books and online database launched by the Crépeau Centre
On April 3, 2013, the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law launched three Ìýnew books and Ìýa new resource website.
During a well-attended reception held in the Common Room, Professor Yaëll Emerich, interim director of the Centre, presented the books and a new database, and took the opportunity to warmly thank the many writers, editors, supporters and colleagues who participated in their preparation.
Private Law Dictionary and Bilingual Lexicons – Property / Dictionnaire de droit privé et lexiques bilingues – Les biens
This dictionary, available in French and English, offers definitions and comments relating to the field of civil law property and includes a French-English lexicon. It is an essential tool for Quebec jurists, Ìýlegal translators, for Canadian jurists with an interest in Quebec civil law and, for jurists specializing in comparative law.
These two volumes are dedicated to the memory of Professor Paul-André Crépeau, founder of the Research Centre that now bears his name.
Code civil, édition historique et critique - Supplément 1980-1993 / Civil Code, An Historical and Critical Edition - 1980-1993 Supplement
This historical and critical edition of the Civil Code follows the two volumes previously published by the Centre that covered the legislative history of the Civil Code of Lower Canada up to July 31, 1983. The new edition Ìýcompletes the series by covering the period going from 1980 to 1994, when Civil Code of Québec came into effect.

Waters’ Law of Trusts in Canada, 4th edition
This comprehensive edition examines the law of trusts in all jurisdictions of Canada, including the nature of trusts under common law and civil law, and some international jurisdictions such as the United States, where Canadian trust law is increasingly relevant in estate planning. The book offers insight into the creation and administration of express trusts; trust termination; conflict of laws, including the Hague Convention on the Recognition of Trusts; the variety of uses to which the trust is applied; and the law concerning remedial trusts (for example, resulting and constructive trusts), especially in matrimonial law.
Archives of the Civil Code Revision Office of Quebec Database
With the help of the 91ÉçÇø Library, the archive of the Civil Code Revision Office of Quebec (CCRO) Ìýwere digitized and indexed into an online database. This database now offers access to this archive – including working papers, reports, correspondence, minutes from meetings, etc. –Ìý dating mostly between 1966 and 1979.
These materials were donated to 91ÉçÇø by the President of the CCRO, Professor Paul-André Crépeau. The 91ÉçÇø CCRO holdings are composed of more than 4,000 documents, stored in over 300 volumes, and representing approximately 40,000 pages. This monumental database will be fundamental to research in legal history and in the codification of the Quebec civil code.
