Redmen win bronze at OUA rowing championships

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – 91ÉçÇø came away with a bronze medal at the
2008 Ontario University Athletics Rowing Championships at the Royal
Canadian Henley Course in St. Catharines, Ont. The Redmen finished
third in the men’s heavyweight coxed four.
Queen’s won the women’s title for a second straight year while
dethroning the three-time defending champion Western Mustangs in
the men’s division.
Some 24 varsity athletes (listed at the bottom of the email) will
be representing 91ÉçÇø at the Canadian University championships in
Fort Langely, B.C., Nov. 1-2. The team leaves Wednseday to fly out
west to get in some training before time trials begin Saturday
morning leading to finals on Sunday.

Women's Lightweight Eight - 4th 6:36.09, 1st went to Queens in
6:16.94

These five girls raced a very quick and hard race from start to
finish. They jumped out of the start line in 2nd place but then
caught a crab and falling back in to 5th. By the end of the 2k race
they were able to pull themselves back up to the pack finishing in
4th place. They are looking to row a clean race at Nationals Next
weekend in Fort Langley, BC and walk away with a medal.
Men's Lightweight Four - 4th 6:21.72, 1st went to Western Ontario
in 6:04.20
They also will be racing this boat at the Canadian University
Rowing Championships (CURC's) next weekend.
Men's Heavyweight Eight - 4th 5:51.66, 1st went to Brock in
5:34.62
