Shauna Van Praagh and David Lametti promoted to Full Professors

Published: 28 July 2015

The Faculty is proud to announce that Professors Shauna Van Praagh (on left) and David Lametti (on right) were each promoted to the rank of Full Professor on August 1, 2015.

In sharing the news, Dean Daniel Jutras observed that “both Shauna and David have been central in our efforts to lead the way in legal education, in their respective roles as Associate Dean Graduate Studies and Associate Dean Academic, of course, but also through their deep engagement with curriculum renewal, mentorship of students and colleagues, and imaginative scholarship at the interface of teaching and advanced research.â€

Professor Shauna Van Praagh teaches and writes in the areas of the law of civil wrongs, common law obligations, social diversity and law, and children and the law. Current research areas include legal education; religion and law; and children in the law of civil wrongs. She was Associate Dean, Graduate studies at the Faculty of Law from 2007 to 2010. She was elected President of Canadian Association of Law Teachers in 2013 for a one-year term, and she recently co-edited the Stateless Law. Evolving Boundaries of a Discipline collection (Ashgate, 2015).

Professor David Lametti teaches and writes in the areas of Civil and Common law property, intellectual property and property theory. His work explores the ethical bases of our relationship to each other and to our world through resources: traditional property and intellectual property. It seeks to inform not only the nature of property and intellectual property but seeks to articulate the proper configuration of norms and rules – legal and non-legal – that governs them. ÌýHe was Associate Dean (Academic) between 2008 and 2011. He is a Member of the Institute of Comparative Law, and was a founding Member of the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy (CIPP); he served as its Director from 2009 to 2012.

The Faculty congratulates Shauna Van Praagh and David Lametti for this well-deserved promotion.
