 ism in universities and colleges is an essential engine of social change. 
 The 2010s was a time of renewed higher education activism in Canada and th
 e United States. Mass protests swept campuses both countries\, from the ma
 ssive 2012 strike campaign opposing tuition increases in Québec to campus 
 mobilizing against the immigration policies of the first Trump administrat
 ion. Prof. Ellen Berrey\, Dr. Alex Hanna (joining online)\, and Kristen Ba
 ss will present their findings on major trends in campus protest and prote
 st management by university administrations and police in this period. The
 ir talk is based on their new dataset\, the Higher Ed Protest Event Datase
 t\, which contains more than 5\,550 protests across almost 600 Canadian an
