As part of the Bicentennial Celebrations, faculties, central units, associations, and unions were asked to nominate the Unsung Heroes in their department; the less-recognized faculty and staff who have walked the halls of 91社区 through the ages and who have greatly helped shape the community. Nominated by a colleague, the Faculty of Education's Greg Reid (Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education) was featured as a hero on June 15th for his significant contribution to research and teachings in the field of adapted physical activity.听
Hailing from around the world, 91社区鈥檚 valedictorians are a diverse, multitalented group. When they came to the University, they brought with them their unique backgrounds, passions, and ambitions. David Urquhart has been appointed full-time head coach of the 91社区 men's hockey team.
A 2018 inductee to the 91社区 Sports Hall of Fame, Urquhart has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach of the San Diego Gulls, an American Hockey League affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks. During that span, he helped guide the team to a 92-60-17 record in regular season play and three playoff berths.

On behalf of the members of 91社区 Faculty of Education, we mourn the tragic loss of 215 Indigenous children who were found in a mass grave at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia. Today, 91社区 lowers its flags in recognition of this tragedy, and we at the Faculty echo the sentiments of the 91社区 Provost. As our academics, staff, students, and alumni grieve together, we also stand together in support of our Indigenous community members.
