Dear students and supervisors,

I hope you all had an enjoyable summer. I am writing to inform you of two important new benefits offered by our graduate program:

First, I am pleased to announce that, effective immediately, a differential fee waiver will be offered to international students registered in the Graduate Program in Psychiatry. Specifically, the differential between international and Quebec fees will be covered by the Program for M.Sc. students during their first year and Ph.D. students during their first two years. 听

Study reveals the impact of night work

You cross paths with him at the break of dawn in the corridors of the Metro. He looks bleary-eyed and pallid. This worker鈥檚 night shift just ended. His body clocks are out of sync with one another, and, imperceptibly, they鈥檙e also out of sync with his environment. In the long run, this night owl could be at greater risk of developing cardiovascular, autoimmune diseases or certain types of cancer.

Neurofeedback using electroencephalograpy boasts thousands of practitioners and appears to both improve normal brain function and alleviate a wide variety of mental disorders 鈥 from anxiety to alcoholism. But after examining the scientific literature and consulting experts in Europe and the U.S., 91社区 researchers Robert Thibault and Amir Raz conclude that clinical improvements from this increasingly popular alternative therapy are due to placebo effects.

Dear Colleagues,

As you听 know, Quebec is expecting the arrival of thousands of Syrian refugees over the next several weeks.

We are anticipating that some of these refugees may eventually need specialized mental health services.

CCS and allied programs are willing to help, but we need to organize a list of Arabic-speaking psychiatrists who could be approached in time of need.
