Chemical Society Seminar: Gillian Hatzis- The Editor鈥檚 Role in Publishing at Chem and Some Advice for Crafting Excellent Papers

Monday, March 11, 2024 13:00to14:30
Maass Chemistry Building OM 10, 801 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 0B8, CA

Abstract:

Gillian Hatzis, Scientific Editor at Chem, the home for seminal research highlighting how fundamental chemistry research can be a transformative force in solving challenges on a global scale within Cell Press, will discuss her work as an editor. The key challenges of editorial work are not limited to reading and forming critical opinions of submitted research works, but also include keeping up with the state of the art in a variety of topics we cover, commissioning a variety of pieces in special formats, traveling to universities and conferences for meetings with key thought leaders, and organizing webinars and symposia to support the communities we serve. Gillian will discuss some tips and tricks for crafting engaging research works that stand out and make the editorial process flow smoothly, from a cover letter to the conclusion, and the references you cite.
