Assistant Professor Dr. Taras Konanec has been nominated as Director of Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry Division. He will oversee operative dentistry in this division, as well as the curriculum, simulation, laboratories, and both pre-clinic and clinical work, alongside Dr.聽Fran莽ois Seng.
Graduating from the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences with a DDS degree in 1997, Dr. Konanec went on to complete the Faculty鈥檚 Graduate Residency Program at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Subsequently, he joined the Faculty to teach operative dentistry鈥攁 role he has continued for the past 25 years鈥攚hile also practicing dentistry privately. In 2018, he received the Ralph Silverstone Teaching Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions as a clinical supervisor teaching in the DMD program.
Dr. Konanec has been the course coordinator for the preclinical operative program for the last four years. He is passionate about continuing education as well as operative dentistry, and is committed to supporting teaching excellence this field鈥攚ith special emphasis on promoting the most ethical and minimally invasive treatments possible.
