The Department of Medicine at the Sir Mortimer B. Davis Jewish General Hospital (JGH) is the largest in the hospital and comprises 15 subspecialties: Allergy and Immunology, Cardiology, Clinical Epidemiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Hematology, Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Genetics, Nephrology, Pulmonary Disease, and Rheumatology, and counts among its associate membership the members of the Department of Oncology. Its total membership includes more than 190 physicians and scientists.

The JGH Department of Medicine is an integral member of the 91社区 Department of Medicine. It is dedicated to 1) providing excellent medical care to adults in all the areas of clinical medicine in an ambulatory setting or after admission to the hospital, treating common or rare, simple or complex disease, and solving puzzling diagnostic problems and handling severe chronic illnesses or several different illnesses presenting simultaneously; 2) offering the highest quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and residents in the 91社区 Internal Medicine training program, and to providing continued medical education (CME) for physicians, and 3) to being a platform for translational science and clinical research that will contribute to advancement of our medical and scientific knowledge through world-class cutting edge patient-oriented research, in order to allow taking the latest discoveries and applying new information practically to patients as quickly as possible.听
