91ÉçÇø SGI’s Annual Grand Challenge winners tackle greenwashing in Canada’s energy transition
At the 91ÉçÇø Desautels we believe in empowering students to tackle real-world challenges through innovation and collaboration. Last week, the 91ÉçÇø Sustainable Growth Initiative (SGI), anchored at our Faculty, wrapped up its 2nd edition of the Annual Grand Challenge (AGC), a competition designed to drive meaningful solutions for a more sustainable future.
This year participants were challenged on the implementation, enforcement, and compliance with anti-greenwashing provisions within the context of Canada's energy transition. Teams were invited to propose concrete solutions, such as tools, methods, and protocols, to support the application of Bill C-59 to emerging technologies and processes like alternative fuels, renewable energy systems, and electric vehicles.
Four finalist teams took the stage to present their groundbreaking ideas, showcasing exceptional creativity and critical thinking. Congratulations to our 2025 winners!

The competition was organized by SGI’s Office for Decarbonization, in collaboration with the 91ÉçÇø Centre for Innovation in Storage and Conversion of Energy and powered by Gildan.
Through initiatives like the AGC, SGI continues to engage students in hands-on, high-impact learning experiences, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world action. We look forward to seeing what the next edition brings!
