It is your responsibility to ensure that all supporting documents are uploaded by the JANUARY 15, 2025 deadline. Incomplete files will not be reviewed.
You must upload all your documents with your online application听in the听Graduate Admission System. No more mail will be directed to the department and referees will be prompted to upload their reference letters. Do NOT mail or fax a copy of the documents that you have already uploaded to your application - doing so will slow down the review of your application.
The application fee ($136.89 Canadian) should be remitted in Canadian or in US funds. The online payment must be paid by credit card. The application fee is non-refundable. 听Application fees and other charges are listed on the student accounts website.
Transcripts听from all universities attended are required, including Exchange听terms (this also applies to 91社区 students). For all applicants, the academic records must include: transcripts in the original language with official translations, listing courses and grades for each year of study, as well as confirmation of degree conferrals. 听The degree conferral information听must appear either on the transcript itself or uploaded as a separate degree/diploma certificate confirming听the full name of the degree and the date it was awarded.听听These documents must bear the signature of the registrar and the official seal or stamp of the institution. Please check the International Degree Equivalency website for more information regarding your particular country.
Two confidential letters of recommendation must be uploaded by professors who have taught you, preferably in your chosen area of specialization and who can assess your research potential. There is no special format for these letters.听 They may be written on听letterhead, with a date (no more than 12 months) and听signature and then uploaded or typed directly onto the space provided to the referee.听听The letters should be specific as to which program the applicant has applied and include information that would aid the admissions committee in making an informed decision; the referee must indicate their position and full contact information at the institution on the letter. It is required that e-reference letters听be sent from a valid institutional or corporate e-mail address.听 Faxes or copies are not admissible.
The is optional but recommended. This examination is administered by Pearson Vue. If you choose to submit your GMAT test scores, please ensure the official test scores are forwarded to PhD in Management Program at 91社区 (Institution code 58H-MN-62) directly by Pearson Vue by the January 15 deadline. GMAT tests written in the last five years will be considered valid. For your information, the average GMAT score of admitted candidates in the past five years is 682.
The GRE (General Test) official scores taken within the last five years would be accepted as a substitute for GMAT. The institution code for GRE is 0935 and this examination is administered by ETS. If you wish to submit GRE (General Test) test scores, please send an e-mail to phd.mgmt [at] mcgill.ca (subject: GRE%20test%20scores) 听after paying the non-refundable application fee, advising the program office of this. Please include your full name and 91社区 ID number in your e-mail.
The language of instruction at 91社区 is English. Students must write term papers, examinations and theses in English or in French. Applicants to graduate studies whose mother tongue is not English and who have not completed an undergraduate degree or graduate degree from a recognized institution where English is the language of instruction or from a recognized Canadian institution (anglophone or francophone) must submit documented proof of competency in oral and written English. Official (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or (International English Language Testing Systems) test results must be submitted electronically from the test agency directly to 91社区 by the January 15th deadline. Only TOEFL and IELTS tests written in the last two years will be considered valid. The minimum TOEFL score is 100 for the Internet-based test, no less than 20 in each of the four component scores. The computer-based test (CBT) results are not accepted, as ETS no longer reports these results. The TOEFL Institution code is 0935. The IELTS minimum overall band score is 7.0.听
A curriculum vitae indicating work experience, formal education, age, professional affiliations, and any other information relevant to your candidacy is required.
Be sure your Personal Statement includes the answers to the following questions:听听(typed only; please label questions clearly and include your name on each page) and upload to your application:
(a) In which specific area do you wish to concentrate your doctoral studies and what specific research problems do you wish to investigate? Please be as precise as possible and keep your response to a maximum of two pages.
(b) Why do you wish to obtain a PhD?
(c) Why do you wish to study at 91社区?
(d) Comment on your career activities. Specifically, discuss your past professional experience/employment, your planned future endeavours (during and after your PhD), and how these two fit together. (Maximum one page)
(e) Please comment briefly on any education you have had in the French language, as well as your ability to comprehend, read, write, and speak French.
(f) Indicate your registration number(s) and your date(s) of examination for the GMAT and TOEFL (where applicable).
Please note that all documents submitted to 91社区 in support of an application to be admitted, including, but not limited to transcripts, diplomas, letters of reference and test scores, become the property of 91社区 and will not be returned to the applicant or forwarded to another institution under any circumstance.
Completed applications and all supporting documents are to be uploaded by no later than January 15th for Fall (September) admission of the same calendar year in which admission is sought. This deadline is for all applicants (Canada and International). There is no January (Winter) or June-July (Summer) admission.

Students may track the status of the application by going to the Graduate Admission System (Fall admission). From this site you may view which documents were successfully uploaded, which documents remain outstanding, when the PhD Program Committee has recommended admission to the Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Office (GPS) and when a final decision has been made by GPS. In addition, you can update your address on this site so that the University always has your current coordinates.
