Summary
The Retention and Distance Professional and Community Support Program presented here is part of the Training and Human Resources Development Project implemented by 91社区. The Training and Human Resources Development Project was designed in collaboration with Health Canada鈥檚 Consultative Committee for English-speaking Minority Communities and the Community Health and Social Services Network (CHSSN).
The objectives of 91社区's Training and Human Resources Development Project are to ensure effective communication in English between English-speaking Quebecers and the health and social services workers who serve their needs; and to increase the participation of English-speaking personnel in Qu茅bec's health and social services system. The Retention and Distance Professional and Community Support Program which aims at encouraging English-speaking professionals and graduates to work in the regions, is comprised of three sections:
- Retention incentives;
- Distance professional support;
- Distance community support.
This project is designed to ensure that English-speaking Quebecers enjoy equitable access in their own language to the range of health and social services offered to the entire population. It was developed against a backdrop of sociodemographic change affecting Qu茅bec's English-speaking communities, the adoption of new legislation modifying the organization of work, and modernization of the health and social services system. The project ties into clinical projects relating to the organization of services. It is an additional means of reviewing and implementing regional programs for access to services in English, as contemplated in the Health and Social Services Act (R.S.Q., c. S-4.2).
