Autopsy & Rapid Brain Collection Partnership: Towards understanding neurodegenerative disease

Headshot of Jo Anne StrattonPrincipal investigator: Jo Anne Stratton
International partner: UK Dementia Research Institute
HBHL funding (over 2 years): $185,400
Total international partner funding: $200,000
HBHL award start date: September 1, 2020

This project aims to address inaccuracies in autopsy material created by processing artifacts. To do so, the team will develop a bank of healthy brain tissue to better inform and optimize the use of autopsy data, determine how differing autopsy processing conditions affect autopsy sequencing datasets, and create a website to help researchers assess how their data is subject to artifacts. By bettering our interpretation of data obtained from autopsies, this valuable resource will be better geared to help find a cure for neurodegenerative diseases.
