The University offers a health plan that is supplemental to the Provincial Medicare and Hospitalization schemes. Membership in the plan is mandatory unless the staff member is covered under another group plan, such as the plan of their spouse. It is available to part-time staff with an appointment at the University of at least nine months' duration, who are paid on a weekly or semi-monthly basis at an annualized rate of not less than $25,000, as part of the Optional Benefits Program for part-time staff. Coverage is provided for the employee, his/her spouse and any children under the age of twenty-one (21) or twenty-six (26) years of age if a full-time student.
