Dean Robert Leckey, Ad E, has received an honorary Scarlet Key from 91ÉçÇř’s century-old Scarlet Key Society. Established in 1925, the Scarlet Key recognizes outstanding contributions from student leaders who go above and beyond in their dedication to life outside of the classroom. New and extended appointments in the Faculty’s senior leadership

SĂ©bastien Jodoin has been appointed associate dean (research) for a three-year term, effective 1 September 2024. He is took over the portfolio fromĚýDaniel Weinstock, CM, who finished a three-year term in August. As associate dean (research), Professor Jodoin will lead the Faculty’s strategic efforts in fostering a vibrant research culture, as well as securing research funding, chairs, and awards. In May, Professor Jodoin was also honoured with the 91ÉçÇř President’s Prize for Outstanding Emerging Researchers.Ěý

Colleen Sheppard has been appointed associate dean (graduate studies) for a three-year term, effective 1 August 2024. She succeededĚýDarren Rosenblum, who finished their term in July. As associate dean (graduate studies), Professor Sheppard will oversee the Graduate Programs Office and the delivery of Graduate Certificate, LLM and DCL programs.

Tina Piper will serve for an additional year as associate dean (academic), until summer 2025. The associate dean (academic) oversees student services and the delivery of the integrated BCL/JD program. This extension will enable Associate Dean Piper to continue to support the Student Affairs Office team as they review critical processes, and begin collaborating with her successor,ĚýHelge Dedek, on longer-term projects related to the academic program.

Joshua Nichols has been promoted to the rank of associate professor, with tenure, effective 1 June 2024. Professor Nichols is Metis from Treaty 8 Territory in British Columbia. He teaches and publishes in legal theory, political philosophy and constitutional law.ĚýKeep reading

Sarah Riley Case has received the Scholarly Paper Award of the Canadian Association of Law Teachers (CALT). Her paper “” won the annual competition. Aimed at recognizing the work of scholars in the first seven years of their academic appointment, this prize is awarded to the author of a paper that contributes substantially to legal literature. She began her three-year appointment on 1 July 2024, succeeding Professor Frédéric Mégret, who completed his term as co-director in June.
