  of ballroom culture on Black LGBTQ+ identity\, weaving together storytell
 ing and Africentric research principles. Through narratives drawn from com
 munity experiences\, I aim to highlight how ballroom serves as both a spac
 e for self-discovery and resistance. Demonstrations of vogue and face\, pr
 esented by Father Ali Old Navy\, will ground the discussion in the movemen
 t and creativity of the kiki scene\, bringing its energy into the room. By
  blending research with lived experience\, this talk seeks to capture the 
 essence of ballroom as a site of identity formation and empowerment.\n\nTh
 is event is open to the public and is part of Queer History Month at McGil
 l.\n\nRSVP\n\n\nAbout the speaker\n\nVincent Mousseau (they/he) is a regis
 tered social worker and PhD student in Health at Dalhousie University\, ba
 sed in Kjipuktuk. Their doctoral research centres on Black LGBTQ+ identity
  development\, with a focus on the transformative role of kiki ballroom cu
 lture. Blending Africentric social work principles with decolonial and Afr
 opessimist methodologies\, Vincent’s work seeks to challenge dominant narr
 atives and imagine more liberatory futures. Known in Montréal’s kiki ballr
 oom scene as Moose 007\, they also walk butch queen realness\, bringing th
 eir lived experience into both their research and professional practice. 
 \n\n\nKiki comme Résistance : Façonner les Identités Queer et Trans Noires
  \n\nCette présentation explorera l'impact de la culture ballroom sur l'id
 entité des personnes LGBTQ+ noires\, en tissant ensemble des récits et des
  principes de recherche afrocentriques. À travers des histoires tirées des
  expériences de la communauté\, je vise à souligner comment le ballroom se
 rt à la fois d'espace de découverte de soi et de résistance. Des démonstra
 tions de vogue et de face\, présentées par Father Ali Old Navy\, ancreront
  la discussion dans le mouvement et la créativité de la scène kiki\, appor
 tant son énergie dans la salle. En mêlant recherche et expérience vécue\, 
 cette présentation cherche à capturer l'essence du ballroom en tant que li
