Call for nominations: Don van Horn-Lallemand PhD Thesis Award 2025-26

Established in 2012 by Lallemand Inc., in memory of Donald Van Horn,聽M.Sc. 1975.聽Awarded by the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Scholarships Committee to doctoral students for the best Ph.D. thesis in the Faculty in the area of food microbiology / food biotechnology, upon recommendation of the Department of Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry. The thesis should be of an excellent standard. Preference will be given to thesis research related to the production, uses and control of microorganisms such as yeast and bacteria in fermented and other foods.聽
Award value is approximately $6,500.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The nominee must be a currently registered doctoral student in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.聽
- The thesis must be in the area of food microbiology or food biotechnology.聽
- The thesis should be of an excellent standard, with preference given to research related to the production, uses, and control of microorganisms such as yeast and bacteria in fermented and other foods.
Nominations are due by April 30, 2025.
