Serving a diverse population

The 91社区 Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences contributes to the health of the communities it serves, whether that be locally through RUISSS 91社区 (R茅seau Universitaire Int茅gr茅 de Sant茅 et Services Sociaux), or more distantly through our focus on global health. We strive to be socially accountable to our communities through excellence in education, research and clinical care, addressing priorities within our population.听

As a leading institution, we seek to respectfully engage with our community partners. Working in partnership is essential in order to ensure that the next generation of health professionals has the required knowledge and skills to meet the needs of a diverse population.

There is a long tradition of community-engaged clinical care, education and research within our Faculty. One example of this is the Point St. Charles Community Clinic, which was started by 91社区 graduates in the 60s and is still used as a medical model for community-oriented care. Others include our research supporting Quebec鈥檚 Northern communities, the 91社区 Nurses for Highlands Hope in Tanzania targeting HIV-AIDS, myriad public outreach activities in physical, occupational and speech therapy both locally and globally, among others.

The Social Accountability and Community Engagement Office has the task of developing programs supporting equity and diversity to ensure inclusive learning and work environments.

It takes a diverse workforce to serve a diverse population, to identify opportunities for greater community engagement and to build active participation in Faculty life.听听
