Getting an EEG at The Neuro

What to expect—from the waiting area to the EEG itself—for your appointment at The Neuro.

“Our goal was to create a resource that helps participants feel at ease before they even walk through the door. These videos offer a familiarization tool that can make the experience more predictable and comfortable, particularly for autistic and neurodivergent individuals.” — Noémie Hébert-Lalonde, PhD, Q1K Project Lead at The Neuro

Visiting a hospital or research center can bring up a lot of questions—What will it look like? Who will I meet? What will happen?

This video is part of the initiative and is designed to help individuals and families prepare for their EEG visit at The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital).

An EEG (electroencephalogram) is a tool that helps researchers learn more about how the brain works by measuring its electrical activity. In this video, we’ll walk you through the EEG process—from the lab space to the testing itself—so you know what to expect. Being familiar with the steps in advance can help make the experience more comfortable and predictable.
