Feindel Brain and Mind Seminar Series: Advancing Neuron-Centric Analysis of Human Cortical Cytoarchitecture With the BigBrain
The Feindel Brain and Mind Seminar Series will advance the vision of Dr. William Feindel (1918–2014), Former Director of the Neuro (1972–1984), to constantly bridge the clinical and research realms. The talks will highlight the latest advances and discoveries in neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, and neuroimaging.
Speakers will include scientists from across The Neuro, as well as colleagues and collaborators locally and from around the world. The series is intended to provide a virtual forum for scientists and trainees to continue to foster interdisciplinary exchanges on the mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment of brain and cognitive disorders.

´¡²ú²õ³Ù°ù²¹³¦³Ù:ÌýAdvancing the study of human cortical cytoarchitecture demands innovative, data-driven methodologies informed by high-resolution imaging and artificial intelligence. This talk presents recent advancements in a neuron-centric approach to cortical analysis with BigBrain, focusing on individual neuronal features and their spatial relationships to systematically address the challenges of variability and subjectivity inherent in cytoarchitectonic studies. By tracing the evolution of cytoarchitectonic analysis, we demonstrate how developments in explainable machine learning provide a rigorous framework for systematic and reproducible exploration of cortical structure. This methodology enables large-scale investigations that reveal structural principles within cortical organization, offering a clearer, more objective map of human cortical architecture.
