I will describe how these insights came from caref ul studies of fruit fly brain wiring diagrams at single-synapse resolution \, combined with targeted monitoring of specific brain cells as flies navi gated in virtual reality environments\, and computational modeling work th at puts these observations into a theoretical framework.\n\n\nThe Albert A guayo Lecture at The Neuro: This annual lecture honours Dr. Albert Aguayo\ , OC\, FRCP\, Professor Emeritus founder and former Director of the Centre for the Research in Neuroscience at 91ÉçÇø. He is a former Pre sident of the Society for Neurosciences and the Canadian Association of Ne uroscience. Dr. Aguayo also held the positions of Secretary General and Pr esident of the International Brain Research Organization ( IBRO) and been a member of many international advisory committees and editorial boards. H e holds honorary degrees from the Universities of Lund (Sweden)\, Cordoba ( Argentina) and Queen’s and Dalhousie in Canada. Albert Aguayo’s scientif ic contributions concerned the regenerative capacity of the adult mammalia n central nervous system.\n\n\nThis event is generously supported by the R ose Wiselberg Foundation.\n DTSTART:20240926T200000Z DTEND:20240926T210000Z LOCATION:De Grandpre Communications Centre\, Montreal Neurological Institut e\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2B4\, 3801 rue University SUMMARY:Albert Aguayo Lecture: Neural Networks for Navigation URL:/neuro/channels/event/albert-aguayo-lecture-neural -networks-navigation-357303 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
