The talks will highlight the latest advances and discoveries in neuropsychology\, co gnitive neuroscience\, and neuroimaging.\n\nSpeakers will include scientis ts from across The Neuro\, as well as colleagues and collaborators locally and from around the world. The series is intended to provide a virtual fo rum for scientists and trainees to continue to foster interdisciplinary ex changes on the mechanisms\, diagnosis and treatment of brain and cognitive disorders.\n\n\nTo attend in person\, register here\n\nSigny Sheldon\n\nA ssociate Professor\, 91ÉçÇø\n\nAbstract: It is well accepted th at memory retrieval is a dynamic process\, leading to variations in how in dividuals recall past experiences. Cognitive neuroscience models of memory suggest distinct hippocampal circuits are involved in representing memori es either with broad\, conceptual elements or with precise\, perceptual de tails. In this talk\, I will present a series of behavioral and neuroimagi ng studies that leverage these models to explore memory differences relate d to aging and mental health conditions\, such as anxiety. These studies r eveal that different populations—such as younger versus older adults and i ndividuals with anxiety—tend to favor certain types of memory representati on that are reflected in behaviour and in the brain. I will also present r esults showing how these representational biases ultimately can impact the way memory is used to guide decision making and future planning. I will f inish by discussing implications for neurocognitive models of aging and th erapeutic interventions for mental health.\n DTSTART:20241125T180000Z DTEND:20241125T190000Z LOCATION:De Grandpre Communications Centre\, Montreal Neurological Institut e\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2B4\, 3801 rue University SUMMARY:Feindel Brain and Mind Seminar Series: The Cognitive and Neural Mec hanisms of Memory Change: From Aging to Anxiety URL:/neuro/channels/event/feindel-brain-and-mind-semin ar-series-cognitive-and-neural-mechanisms-memory-change-aging-anxiety-3608 03 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
