Earth Day at the Redpath Museum
BRING YOUR FLOWERPOTS (or any small container) TO THE MUSEUM!
Starting on Tuesday, April 18th, the Redpath Museum will begin thecountdown to Earth Day, Saturday, April 22nd. On that day, the Museum will be exceptionally open for a day of special activities!
From Tuesday, April 18th to Friday, April 21st,keep an eye out for several special temporary features during your visit to the Museum! We hope they will spark new thoughts and start new conversationsabout the Earth andall the living beings that ever walked on it!
On Tuesday, April 18, help us kick off Earth Week at the Redpath Museum by taking a break and grounding yourself in the Redpath Museum. Join yoga instructor Andrea Velghe for a 30-minute beginner-friendly session. Take some time to explore the museum after.
When & Where:Tuesday, April 18, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm, in the Redpath Museum Teaching Laboratory (room 106).
General Admission:No admission fee, donations only. *Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.A yoga mat is suggested but not required.
On Wednesday, April 19, to quote environmental scientist and educator Donella Meadows: “Everything is connected to everything else on this planet. This can be good news as well as bad”. So finish off your visit to the Redpath Museum by reflecting on connections through a temporary interactive activity.
On Friday, April 21, meet artist Milton Riaño, who designed one of the museum's temporary exhibitions. Milton will be in our galleries Friday from 1 pm to 3 pm to engage with everyone! Visitors will also have a chance to contribute and respond to Milton's installation!
On Saturday, April 22nd,come for a regular visit, or participate in our specialEarth Day tour. Take part in a specially designed self-guided tour that will take you around the Redpath Museum as youfollow the story of carbon, the basis for all life on Earth. This tour will take you from the Earth’s beginnings and first life forms to some of the amazing worldcultures that have shaped humanity, not to mention scores ofextinct orliving animals. Finish the tour with an interactive activity that connects us all, before getting the chance toplantseeds fora more colourful and beautiful future.
