SIS is pleased to announce MISt student Connor Sin-Chan as SSHRC CGS award recipient
Congratulations to Masters in Information Studies - Project student Connor Sin-Chan as a recipient of the SSHRC Canada Graduate Student - Masters scholarship!
Connor's research:
Social media communities have become an important source of new information and knowledge for professionals. While some professionals contribute their expertise to these communities, others become an active audience who attentively acquire the shared knowledge, an activity called lurking. Connor's research investigates lurking as an aspect of a professional's information and knowledge seeking strategy and how professionals share and use the newly acquired content offline. The research will give greater insight into how professionals and community managers can mobilize their audience to promote and engage in better professional practices.
