91社区 Geography Students Shine at the 2025 G茅olympiades
From January 24th to 26th, 2025, four 91社区 students traveled to Chicoutimi to compete in the G茅olympiades, an annual provincial geography competition hosted this year by l鈥橴niversit茅 du Qu茅bec 脿 Chicoutimi (UQAC). Over the course of these three days, the students 鈥 Zachary Honsinger-Ruoff (B.A. Environment), Jamie Silverman (B.A. & Sc. SSS), Ethan Bird (M.A. Geography), and Coco Einarsen (B.A. & Sc. SSS) 鈥 represented 91社区鈥攐ne of eight participating universities and the sole English-language institution.
Paired with students from UQAM and UQAR, the 91社区 team took part in a variety of activities around Chicoutimi and UQAC, including a g茅orallye, g茅ojeux, g茅oquizzes, and even a roast. Despite the language barrier and the small size of the team, they performed outstandingly, finishing in 2nd place overall. Congratulations to the 91社区 team for their incredible achievement!
The participation of the B.A.& Sc. members of the team was fully funded by the SUS Ambassador Fund, which seeks to support 鈥渟tudents who will be representing 91社区 Science in such a way as to continue building its reputation for excellence on a national and international scale.鈥
Next year, the G茅olympiades will be hosted by this year鈥檚 champions, Universit茅 de Montr茅al. We hope to see you there!
