Vue d'ensemble
Historique : A survey of the history and culture of the Japanese Empire, with a focus on the history of the development of imperialism in the Asia-Pacific region and on the Asian continent. Topics will include the history of Japanese colonialism in China, Manchuria, Korea, Taiwan, and the South Pacific, the intellectual culture of empire, conceptions of colonizer and colonized, and the relations between imperialism and Japanese economic development.
