Program Requirements
The M.A. in Music; Musicology-Non-Thesis is a course-based program that focuses on research methodologies and critical issues. Guidance is provided by leading scholars whose internationally-acclaimed research covers a broad spectrum of topics central to the Musicology discipline.
Students admitted to the M.A. in Music; Musicology-Non-Thesis program who have undergraduate degrees other than the B.Mus.; Major in Music History from 91ÉçÇø, may be required to successfully complete one or more undergraduate course(s) before completion of the Master's program.

Overview
Graduate Faculty Music Courses : Independent study of an approved topic or topics under the guidance of a supervisor. Topics will be chosen to suit individual needs and interests. MUHL 529 Proseminar in Musicology (3 credits)
Overview
Music History and Literature : Study of selected methodologies in musicology through critical examination of significant texts. Topics may include approaches to historiography, biography, editing and source studies, as well as aesthetics, literary criticism, semiology, feminist musicology, and ideology critique. Works by Adler, Adorno, Dahlhaus, Kerman, McClary, Meyer, Nattiez, and Subotnik, among others, will be addressed.
