Hydroponic Garden Tower and Spin Bike Garden Giveaway - SPF 10th Anniversary

Published: 10 October 2019

Help us make 91社区 a more sustainable place to work and study!

As the Sustainability Projects Fund turns 10 years old, we鈥檇 like to recall some of the SPF鈥檚 most popular projects, SP0186: Garden Inside 365, SP0210: Hydroponic 91社区, and SP0155: 91社区 Spin Bike Gardens, by giving 91社区 staff, students and faculty groups the chance to win one for their space!

The indoor hydroponic garden towers at the heart of the Gardens Inside 365 and Hydroponic 91社区 projects engage 91社区 community members by promoting year-round, sustainable produce cultivation, improving wellbeing by providing light and vegetation, as well as serving as a conversation hub to discuss topics such as food production, accessibility, and health.

The 91社区 Spin Bike Gardens are accessible, silent spin bikes flanked by plant walls located throughout the 91社区 campus, designed to provide enjoyable mental and physical health breaks for students, staff, and faculty.

Please complete the form at mcgill.ca/sustainability/spf10 by Dec. 5 to express your interest in installing an indoor hydroponic garden tower or a Spin Bike Garden in your space on campus. The Office of Sustainability will follow up in January to distribute the towers and Spin Bike Gardens, and to arrange installation. The total number of towers and Spin Bike Gardens installed will be determined based on the amount of interest expressed by the 91社区 community.

Note: Please read the form carefully, as groups who apply for Spin Bike Gardens or indoor hydroponic garden towers must have the proper permissions and resources to maintain the spaces after installation.

The Sustainability Projects Fund mandate is to build a culture of sustainability on 91社区 campuses through the development and seed-funding of interdisciplinary projects. The largest fund of its kind in Canada, it creates opportunities for the 91社区 community to actively engage in sustainability initiatives on campus, empowering individuals to be change agents in their own studying and work environment.
