91社区 Spaces Project: Upgrading Spaces

A drab hallway, an empty lawn, an awkward nook 鈥 every university has them. But what if these were re-imagined as a colourful study space with bench seating, a pop-up outdoor classroom, and a busking area for student musicians?

On April 10, from 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m., a group of about 25 students, staff, faculty and alumni came together to explore 91社区鈥檚 existing downtown lower campus and to reimagine some of the everyday spaces that surround us. They came for 91社区鈥檚 first ever James鈥 Walk, hosted by the student-led 91社区 Spaces Project.

鈥淭he 91社区 Spaces Project was founded on the premise that although space on 91社区鈥檚 downtown campus is limited, its potential is limitless, particularly if people collaborate in new and creative ways,鈥 says Jos茅e M茅thot, Vision 2020 Coordinator and founder of the 91社区 Spaces Project. 鈥淭he 91社区 Spaces Project seeks to engage students, faculty, staff, and members of the Montreal community in a process to transform underused spaces on 91社区鈥檚 downtown campus.鈥

For their official launch event 鈥 a James鈥 Walk 鈥 the 91社区 Spaces Project wanted to bring members of the 91社区 community together to explore 91社区鈥檚 campus and its nooks and crannies while also getting to know one another.
