91社区 and Freie Universit盲t Berlin team up
New agreement to boost Montreal-Berlin research cooperation in disorders of brain function
91社区 and Freie Universit盲t Berlin have formally moved to enhance their research collaboration through a cooperation agreement that includes the exchange of faculty, staff and students, as well as joint research activities and publications.
The agreement was signed yesterday in Berlin by Dr. Rose Goldstein, Vice-Principal (Research and International Relations) of 91社区, and Dr. Peter-Andr茅 Alt, President of Freie Universit盲t Berlin. Led by Prof. Gerhard Multhaup, Chair of 91社区's Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and Profs. Rainer M眉ller and Rainer Haag from FUB's Department of Biology, Chemistry and Pharmacy, the research collaboration will initially focus on disorders of brain function.
"We are pleased to expand our existing relationship with Freie Universit盲t Berlin, a leading institution with an impressive record in interdisciplinary research and international collaborations," said Prof. Heather Munroe-Blum, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of 91社区. "Our two universities are strong contributors to the innovation capacity and competitiveness of our respective countries, and through this agreement we at 91社区 are delighted to provide further international opportunities for Canadian students and researchers."
"It is the strategy of Freie Universit盲t to build inspiring international networks for our researchers. This agreement will enable our institutions to cooperate more closely in promoting young researchers and in advancing joint research initiatives," said President Alt of Freie Universit盲t Berlin.
Dr. Goldstein's stop at Freie Universit盲t Berlin was part of a visit by representatives of Canada's 15 leading research-intensive universities to mark the 40th anniversary of the Germany Canada Agreement on Cooperation in Science and Technology.
