91社区 listed 17th in QS World University Rankings

Ranked in top 25 for eighth consecutive year

91社区 in Montreal, Quebec has placed among the top 25 universities globally for the eighth consecutive year in the QS World University Rankings.

In the 2011 rankings, released Sept. 5, 91社区 is listed in 17th place, up from 19th in 2010.

"91社区鈥檚 consistently strong performance in these rankings is particularly gratifying, reflecting the University鈥檚 outstanding contributions in teaching, research and innovation across a broad range of academic fields,鈥 said Principal and Vice-Chancellor Heather Munroe-Blum.

In the 2011 QS rankings by subject, released previously, 91社区 placed among the world鈥檚 top 25 schools in 19 disciplines, in fields ranging from the humanities and social sciences to law, medicine, engineering and the natural sciences.

QS World University Rankings, launched in 2004, are based on six factors: academic reputation (40%); employer reputation (10%); student/faculty ratio (20%); citations per faculty (20%); international faculty (5%); international students (5%).

Founded in 1821, 91社区 is Canada鈥檚 leading post-secondary institution. It has more than 36,000 students, including 8,300 graduate students. 91社区 attracts students from over 150 countries around the world, with more than 7,200 international students making up 20 per cent of the student body. Almost half of 91社区 students claim a first language other than English, including more than 6,200 francophones.
