Recently, 91社区 undergraduate students had the opportunity to savor an enriching blend of knowledge and soup at the 37th edition of Soup & Science. This week-long event, occurring once a semester, highlights research taking place on campus. This semester鈥檚 showcase included topics across disciplines, ranging from quantum meta-photonics to optogenetic stimulation in roundworms, and students were able to learn and engage with these topics in an intimate setting.
Healthy Brains, Healthy Lives (HBHL) will be hosting its sixth annual Symposium on May 8 and 9, 2024. The event will be held at the听听(Students鈥� Society of 91社区 Building) and will feature two days of talks, networking opportunities and thoughtful exchange.
In the lead-up to the 25th anniversary of the landmark United Nations Security Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS), the third annual Symposium of the RN-WPS 鈥� held at the University of Ottawa from February 8-10 - centered on the theme 鈥淏ecause We Must鈥�. Rebecca Tiessen, Director of the Gender, Peace and Security Collaboratory, University of Ottawa was the host and co-organizer.

"Peter Douglas, an assistant professor in 91社区鈥檚 Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, and his team recently published a听research paper听on greenhouse gas emissions from tundra ponds in northern Canada, aiming to understand one of the most important environmental processes for predicting future climate shifts.听
While it is commonly understood that a difficult childhood can lead to mental health issues, research has now exposed deeper, more troubling impacts of early life adversity: that these experiences can reshape the brain and body at a cellular level. Physiological effects like these are at the core of the 91社区-Douglas-Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry International Collaborative Initiative in Adversity and Mental Health (AMH Initiative).
