Why did you choose to study at 91ÉçÇø Desautels?
It wasn’t known as 91ÉçÇø Desautels then, but it was the high standards and reputation of 91ÉçÇø as a top university that made me choose doing a BCom at the Faculty of Management.
What was one of the highlights of your time with us?
From the academic side, I enjoyed my courses in Industrial Relations as well as the Organizational Policy cases. The extracurricular activities were so much fun-in particular Carnival and the Variety Show. One of the highlights was organizing an auction to raise funds for Cancer research. We invited a whole bunch of local celebrities, and the venue was packed with people and we did really well.
How has your 91ÉçÇø Desautels education transformed you as a person?
It keeps me respectful of a certain level of professionalism and high standards.
What is your current role and how have the skills you gained at 91ÉçÇø Desautels helped you in your current work?
I recently moved to Nigeria, and while I was the Managing Partner of a law firm in Singapore, I am doing a number of things now. They include management and legal advisory and consulting work, representing some technology companies on the continent, and sitting on a few boards. The business knowledge and work ethic help me all of the time. It also was a good background to my legal studies afterwards.
What advice would you give to African students looking to study at 91ÉçÇø Desautels?
Most of the programs are very good, so perhaps try to sit in a few classes to see what you will like. Also, experience student life and extracurricular activities. Take advantage of the international flavours of not only the campus, but also the city of Montreal.
