Biography: 

Dr. Leo Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at 91社区 and a member of the Research Centre for Complex Traits and the Mark Wainberg Centre for Viral Diseases. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) at the University of Saskatchewan and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Chicago and Cleveland Clinic. His research explores virus-host interactions, with a focus on RNA virus biology, antiviral innate immunity and viral evasion strategies. Current projects in his lab include investigating innate immune sensing and regulatory pathways and developing novel RNA virus vectors and vaccines. Dr. Liu has received several honours, such as the 2021 Pfizer Junior Investigator Award from the International Cytokine & Interferon Society and the 2023 Postdoctoral Leadership & Service Award from Cleveland Clinic.
