We do not offer automatic funding to M.A. students; however, we may be able to offer a limited number of teaching assistantships and research assistantships to qualified students. Teaching assistant positions are posted in May and November of each year. The Graduate Program Coordinator will send an email to all registered and incoming students to alert them of the postings.
We are pleased to announce two new departmental awards specifically for M.A. students:
Emil Hosek Master鈥檚 Fellowship
Established in 2022 by Chaviva M. Hosek, OC, BA 1967, in loving memory of Emil Hosek.
Eligibility | Awarded on the basis of academic merit by the Department of History and Classical Studies in the Faculty of Arts, to one or more outstanding Master鈥檚 students entering or enrolled in the Faculty of Arts. Preference will be given to students studying central/eastern European history. |

Halina Czarnocka Graduate Fellowship
Established in 2022 by Susan Amy Hook Czarnocki, MA 1989, in loving memory of Halina Czarnocka.
Eligibility | Awarded on the basis of academic merit by the Faculty of Arts, upon the recommendation of the Department of History and Classical Studies, to one or more Master鈥檚 students entering or enrolled in the Faculty of Arts. Preference will be given to students studying European history. |

In addition, students admitted to the program may be eligible for university-level scholarships such as the McCall McBain Award听补苍诲 other available funding opportunities. Eligible students are also strongly encouraged to apply in the early fall before application for external awards such as the M.A. fellowships awarded by and .
