MISC offers its undergraduate students a number of awards and internship opportunities. Read more about them below.听

Desmond Morton Undergraduate Student Award

This award, established in September 2017 and valued at $250.00, is named in honour of eminent Canadian historian and MISC's much-missed founding director, Professor Desmond Morton. The award shall be given, once a year at the end of the Winter semester, to the student judged to have written the best essay in a Canadian Studies (CANS) course.听

Janet Morton Prize

The much-missed founding MISC Director and Professor Emeritus, Desmond Morton, donated this award to the Faculty of Arts in memory of his late wife Janet L. Morton. The $1400.00 award goes to one student with the highest mark in a Canadian Studies course.

Eakin Student Research Internship in Canadian Studies

The Eakin Student Research Internship serves two purposes. It provides our visiting Eakin Fellow with the top-quality support of an undergraduate student in Canadian Studies. More importantly, it will gives an undergraduate CANS student each term, the opportunity to conduct research under the supervision of an established scholar in Canadian topics. Len Blum Undergraduate Research Award in Canadian Culture

The Len Blum Award is modeled on the very successful Arts Undergraduate Research Internship Award, which provides a stipend for students to serve as interns on research projects supervised by a faculty member. The Len Blum Undergraduate Research Award in Canadian Culture will recognize the significant cultural achievements of Len Blum while offering Canadian Studies students the chance to acquire high-level research expertise conducting research on Canadian culture.
