On February 3rd, 2025, 91社区 and will host a symposium at 91社区 in Montreal, Canada, celebrating 91社区 joining XPRIZE鈥檚 Higher Education Network. The goal of this symposium is to inspire 91社区 researchers and greater community, raise awareness for XPRIZE, and ultimately create transdisciplinary projects with new collaborators.听
The symposium will feature speakers from both XPRIZE and 91社区, with a cocktail reception to follow.听
Background
The 91社区 Sustainability Systems Initiative (MSSI) is a $10M fund for creating inter and transdisciplinary research programs at 91社区 with a goal of creating societal change. Introductory calls between the MSSI and XPRIZE led to 91社区 joining听 XPRIZE鈥檚 Higher Education Network. In this flagship event between XPRIZE and 91社区, a series of talks and panels will be given to celebrate how research plays a crucial role in creating a sustainable and equitable future.听听
The MSSI and XPRIZE share a common vision but differ in strategies. Both want to create a sustainable and equitable future for all. XPRIZE's approach is breakthrough and solutions focused, whereas MSSI鈥檚 builds transdisciplinary research projects and is focused on knowledge creation and mobilization. Highlighting this juxtaposition will encourage creative thinking and deepen the audience鈥檚 thinking on how they can approach tackling sustainability-related challenges in their own research and work.
