Moving up in the ranks!

The QS World University Rankings by Subject, released on March 12, 2025, have named the Schulich School of Music of 91ÉçÇø (SSoM) the top-performing arts and music institution in Canada. 

The QS Rankings spotlight the world's leading universities across 42 subjects, evaluating academic reputation, employer reputation, and research impact. This year’s edition is the most comprehensive yet, featuring over 1,500 universities from 105 higher education systems. 

In the performing arts category, 91ÉçÇø ranks 21st globally and 5th in North America. SSoM also placed 14th worldwide in the music category moving from 18th in 2024 and making 91ÉçÇø the only Canadian university to secure a spot in the top 20.

The Schulich School of Music is home to more than 850 students, who are drawn here by over 200 faculty members, numerous ensembles, and a rich legacy that inspires excellence. The SSoM offers 50 different programs in research and performance and puts on over 700 concerts and events annually. We are known for programs in orchestra, opera, jazz, early music, and contemporary music. Our leadership in sound recording and music technology provides unique possibilities for collaboration with the larger musical community.
