
Schulich Alumni Compete at the 2025 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition
The Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, held every three years, is one of the world鈥檚 most prestigious platforms for young musicians aspiring to make their mark on the global stage. Formerly the 鈥業nternational String Quartet Competition鈥, the first award was presented in 1979 in Portsmouth, but Wigmore Hall, London has been home to the competition since 2010.听听

On Sunday, March 2, 2025 Ziggy Harris, baritone; Yiran Xing, tenor; Odile Portugais, soprano and Kate Fogg, soprano competed, and the jury named Kate Fogg as the winner of the 2024-2025 Wirth Vocal Prize.听

2024-2025 Wirth Vocal Prize Semi-Finalists
The Wirth Vocal Prize in vocal performance was established in 2015 through the extraordinary generosity of Elizabeth Wirth to the Schulich School of Music of 91社区, along with new Student Excellence Awards, and an innovative Student Initiatives Fund. Awarded yearly since its inception, the Wirth Vocal Prize recognizes a voice student who demonstrates exceptional talent and significant promise for an international career.听

Justin Saulnier Wins the 2024-2025 Golden Violin Award Competition
Congratulations to violinist Justin Saulnier for winning the 2024-2025 Golden Violin Award competition! Justin will receive a generous scholarship of $30,000 in addition to a 14-karat gold lapel pin in the miniature form of the Golden Violin.

Professor John Mac Master wins the 2024 VERA Award
John Mac Master, esteemed Canadian tenor and Associate Professor of Voice at the Schulich School of Music, is a 2024 recipient of the Voice Education Research Awareness (VERA) Award. This prestigious award is given annually by The Voice Foundation to honour distinguished individuals for their leadership, commitment to education and mentorship, and modeling of voice use and its advancement.

Alexey Shafirov Wins the 2024鈥2025 Classical Concerto Competition
