Residency Training Program

This summer, there will be a new application process for the eligible Contingent Particulier (CP) candidates applying to PGY1 residency programs. The 91ÉçÇø Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology Residency ProgramÌýwas allocated a CP position via the lottery for 2025-2026 and will be participating in this new process!Ìý

CP applications will be available in theÌýsecond iterationÌýof CaRMS only. As of the second iteration, our program will have 2 streams on CaRMS, the ‘regular’ stream and the ‘particular’ stream.

CaRMS online opens for eligible CP applicants as ofÌý7 January 2025 at 12:00Ìý(noon) ET.

Applicant categories can be found on the following page of theÌýPGME website. Please take note that Canadian transfers are eligible to apply to the CP stream. Their applications will also be available in the second iteration of CaRMS.Ìý

The Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology Residency Program fulfills all the essential global and specific training requirements outlined by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), adhering to sequence, duration, and curriculum content. The Department is committed to integrating CanMEDS roles within the residency training framework, emphasizing medical expert, communicator, collaborator, manager, health advocate, scholar, and professional facets.

Notably, our program has maintained a track record of success in recruiting top-tier candidates and passing of the Canadian Royal College License Examination. We have successful post-graduate job placement both in academic and community practice settings.

Our residency program provides a 5-year comprehensive training designed to train highly skilled pathologists capable of excelling in diverse clinical environments, encompassing both academic and community settings. Our trainees become medical experts in pathology, collaborators with other health care professionals inside and outside of the laboratory, as well as successful leaders and teachers within their field.
