About Bioengineering

About Bioengineering

The Department of Bioengineering, established in 2012, is the newest department to join 91ÉçÇø’s renowned Faculty of Engineering. 91ÉçÇø researchers from nearly all faculty units, including seven Canada Research Chairs and many colleagues in the Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences, Science, and Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, are actively involved in various areas of bioengineering. Within our Department, faculty members conduct research in three major fields:

  • Biological materials and mechanics
  • Biomolecular and cellular engineering
  • Biological Information and Computation

Graduate Studies

Graduate Studies

Graduate study in Bioengineering is available through the Biological and Biomedical Engineering (BBME) graduate programs, offered jointly by the Department of Bioengineering (Faculty of Engineering) and the Department of Biomedical Engineering (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences). Biological and Biomedical Engineering is a broad, interdisciplinary field that involves the application of engineering, the physical sciences, biological sciences, and computer science to medicine and the life sciences. 91ÉçÇø's BBME programs offer unsurpassed opportunities for multidisciplinary research with internationally-renowned scientists.

Please consult Biological and Biomedical Engineering and the Biological and Biomedical Engineering website for further information on this program.
