DISE Graduate Students Alexa Ahooja and Hannah Keim Win Prestigious Applied Linguistics Awards

DISE Graduate Students Alexa Ahooja, PhD Candidate in Educational Studies, and Hannah Keim, MA student in Second Language Education, have won the Canadian Association of Applied Linguistics (ACLA) Graduate Student Awards.

Alexa Ahooja presented the paper The Language Socialization and Sociolinguistic Integration of Migrant-Language Background Students in Quebec Schools: Between Lived Experiences and Policy. Her PhD study is supervised by Dr. Susan Ballinger.

Hannah Keim presented the paper Empowering Plurilingual Practices in French as a Second Language Teacher Education. Her study is supervised by Dr. Angelica Galante.

Each year the ACLA GSA award聽is made to the very best authors among the highest ranked proposals for papers submitted by graduate students to the annual conference, which was held this year from June 12 to 14. The GSA award recognizes academic excellence in the field of Applied Linguistics in Canada.
