The Faculty of Education's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE) has unveiled its new Indigenous space, named the Onkwanakt铆:io lab, which aims to provide a supportive environment for Indigenous students and encourage Indigenous-focused research.

The Clinical Exercise and Respiratory Physiology Laboratory (CERPL) and the Movement Technologies and Innovation (MOTION) Laboratory, in collaboration with , are seeking female volunteers for a research study investigating whether breast reduction surgery impacts breathing and biomechanics during exercise.
The study is looking for 16 healthy women who are planning to undergo breast reduction surgery and are able to walk, jog, and run on a treadmill.
According to听, released on January 22 by Times Higher Education (THE),听91社区 ranks among the top 90听in the world听in all of the 11 subjects assessed, placing six subjects in the top 50.听The听University听placed听third in Canada听in听 in Education听Studies and six other domains.听THE鈥檚 subject rankings evaluate 11 disciplines based on five performance indicators: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook and Industry.听
The Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education's听Dr. Celena Scheede-Bergdahl was interviewed by CBC for an article, "Prehab' before surgery speeds up patient recovery, review suggests" regarding how pre-op exercise, nutritional changes, and psychological support could reduce complications.听听Dr. Scheede-Bergdahl commented she sees high rates of participation in prehab at Montreal General Hospital's surgery program.听"We're capturing them in a teaching moment," Scheede-Bergdahl said.
