2025 Admissions
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences offers a four-year undergraduate medical program leading to the conferral of an MDCM (Medicin忙 Doctorem et Chirurgi忙 Magistrum) degree. The degree designation reflects the rich history of 91社区 as home to Canada's first Faculty of Medicine (see a听brief history of Medicine at 91社区), and the original distinction between Medicine & Surgery colleges.听
The MDCM curriculum
91社区's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences proudly launched its undergraduate medical curriculum in September of 2013.听The previous curriculum, developed in the 1990s, was updated based on recommendations from the 91社区 Faculty of Medicine strategic planning report and the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada report (鈥淭he Future of Medical Education in Canada 鈥 Medical Doctor Project鈥).听The latest MDCM curriculum was developed on the basis of extensive consultations with stakeholders, including a review听of best practices in learning theory and ways of incorporating modern technologies into renovated classroom spaces.听
Visit the for information on program components, longitudinal themes and a curriculum schema.听 Please note that the program is offered full-time only; no part-time students are accepted. For selected students, the program includes a one year integrated clerkship in Gatineau or outside the city of Montreal.听Electronic media, multimedia and other information technologies are used by the Faculty for teaching purposes and to promote learning. Students should therefore expect to be audio and/or video-recorded as part of the program e.g. while learning at the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning.
One program, two campuses! Un听programme, deux sites!
Since 2020, 91社区's MDCM听program is offered听on two campuses!听 Twenty-four students will receive an offer of admission for our beautiful new Campus Outaouais, located in Gatineau, Qu茅bec on听the site of the Gatineau hospital. Both campuses promise a first-class medical education; Gatineau in a smaller, more personalized environment, and Montreal in a larger, metropolitan setting.听听听听听
Following the MMI interviews, candidates will indicate their preference听of campus; offers of admission will be made according to the availability of seats and the preference of candidates.听听
Courses are offered in English at the Montreal campus, and in French at the Outaouais campus. For both campuses, clinical placements beginning in the first year of the program are at听diverse teaching sites which may be classified as either听bilingual or francophone institutions.听听Note that all 91社区 university students have the right to submit written in-course work in French or English.听 While proof of bilingualism is not a selection criteria for admission to the MDCM program, new students' language proficiency may be assessed before the program starts听so they can bring their skills up to speed to ensure they can serve all patients safely while communicating effectively with clinical teams.
