In this 鈥淔rom Failing Hands鈥 podcast excerpt, 91社区 Education鈥檚 Dr. Gordon Bloom (Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education) discusses sport psychology in high performance, as a vital training component for professional athletes and others in high-pressure scenarios. Dr. Bloom highlights the need for athletes to not only train their bodies but to also train their minds and be resilient in order to prepare for competition and performance. He further reiterates that this is an ongoing process; not a quick fix.

Taking a look at the Quebec education system during the spring 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, DISE faculty members Dr. Joseph Levitan, Dr. Bronwen Low, and Dr. Lisa Starr began examining the "digital divide" between families in the public and private school sectors as well as the differences between rural and urban/suburban available ed tech resources.

Dr. Gigi Luk of 91社区 Education's Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology has recently been involved in discussions听with the National Academy of Education (NAEd) in the U.S. regarding educational inequities during COVID-19. The NAEd recently published a report听exploring the effects of听school disruption with regard to children's academic progress and social-emotional development as well as highlighting the more severe impact this disruption had on students in disadvantaged communities.

Professor听Tyler Churchward-Venne听of 91社区 Education's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education has just been announced as a听John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) grant recipient! As principal investigator for the research being done in听Exercise and Nutrition to Support Skeletal Muscle Health Across the Lifespan, Dr.听Churchward-Venne听will receive听$344,957 from JELF; $344,957 matching provincial funds.

Known for her motivation and enthusiasm, she was described by her friends as full of joy, bighearted, and always encouraging to her fellow classmates. Those wanting to read her obituary and watch the funeral recording may do so .

Announcing a new course open to Education students (DISE, ECP, KPE)!听 EDPE 595: Seminar in Special Topics-- Introduction to Professional Engagement with Indigenous Peoples in Canada is a graduate level course that is also open to to advanced undergraduate students, with permission of the instructor.听Taught by Professor Dennis Wendt on Tuesdays at 11:35 AM to 2:35 PM (EST), this course provides an introduction to key considerations pertaining to professional engagement with Indigenous Peoples in Canada, including First Nations, M茅tis, and Inuit peoples.
