For professional athletes, the pressures of competition and stigma surrounding mental health issues can be debilitating to the point where some are leaving the arena for good. Young hockey players are no exception. Fear of negative career repercussions can mean athletes avoid disclosing their mental health concerns.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former 91社区 Kinesiology and Physical Education Department Chair, Douglas Riley. Native from St. John, New Brunswick, he passed away on June 8, 2022 at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax at 90 years old.
Douglas was a physical education teacher at Three Rivers High School in the 1950s and went on to serve for 25 years as a professor for the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at 91社区 and as Chair of the department.

The KPE graduate committee (KPEG) is excited to announce that they are currently organizing a food drive, where all items will be donated to a women鈥檚 shelter in Montr茅al at the end of the Fall 2022 semester.
